  • 30 years’ experience of supporting voluntary and community groups in West Sussex
  • Experience of establishing West Sussex wide consortia, successfully bidding for large scale national funding streams and managing  the delivery contracts
  • Experienced chair and voluntary sector representative. Currently chair the Arun Wellbeing & Health Partnership and Arun and Chichester Community Cohesion Group
  • Experienced change manager, leading the successful merger of two infrastructure organisations and acting as an advisor to several others
  • Developed, reviewed and implemented strategic business plans for Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester and advised other organisations on how to do this
  • Qualified trainer, very experienced in facilitating staff and trustee away days and carrying out consultation exercises to create and develop strategic plans

Hilda Sherwood – Development Team Manager

  • Has a background in charity management including governance, business planning and organisational development
  • Worked in the charity sector for many years and her last job was managing Home-Start Worthing & Adur from 2001 to 2016 supporting the needs of families through trained volunteers
  • After being made redundant in July 2016, Hilda attended the University of Sussex to study a Master’s Research Degree in Wellbeing. She has a particular passion to promote wellbeing in the workplace, which was the focus of her dissertation

  • Excellent communicator, managing VAAC’s email bulletins, social media, press coverage, websites and brand
  • Responsible  for quality management, establishing policies and procedures, ensuring their implementation and leading VAAC in achieving the PQASSO Quality Mark at Level 2
  • Experienced membership manager, co-ordinating and up-keeping our 340 + membership database and membership process

  • A variety of experience working with both Vulnerable Adults (including currently working in another part time role within a mental health charity) and Children/young people
  • 2 years experience of being a fundraiser (raising over £35K)
  • Is very creative and has a first class degree in fine art!

  • Has been involved with the setting up and managing of three different websites, as well as editing and producing a quarterly newsletter
  • Has a CIPR Foundation Award in Public Relations and is skilled at producing press releases, website copy and marketing materials
  • Has volunteered for many different organisations, including 3 months volunteering in Peru
