Introduction to Youth Work Training

An Introduction to Youth Work Course over two weekends for groups in West Sussex and Brighton & Hove.

The Course content will include topics such as:

  • Communication with young people
  • Current issues of adolescence
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Health and Safety
  • Boundaries
  • The creation of safe environments for young people

Venue: Burgess Hill Youth, Fairfield Community Centre, Off Western Road, Burgess Hill, RH15 8QN

Dates: Saturday 9 May and Saturday 6 June, 10.00am – 16.00pm

Age group: 18+

Course Leader: Sue Manwaring

Cost: The course is subsidised by SCYP and offered to affiliated clubs/groups at £45 per person for the two sessions. Payment must be made in advance.

Refreshments: Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch

Certificates of participation will be given to those taking part and the topics covered would also be useful for those interested in further accredited training.

Sue Manwaring is a qualified, experienced youth worker and trainer and has experience in a range of settings, including centre based, outreach, detached and information advice and guidance projects. She has worked in both rural and urban locations and for the voluntary and statutory sector. Sue has trained in a wide variety of organisations from first time volunteers to postgraduate youth workers and managers. She is committed to quality provision for young people and an expansion of the opportunities  available to them.
