Are you able to support others to achieve a health outcome, such as to lose weight, stop smoking or take up exercise?
As a Wellbeing Supporter you will work with others to help them achieve their goals!
Overview of the Project
The Wellbeing Supporters Project (part of the Arun Wellbeing Service led by Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester) helps others to achieve positive health outcomes, such as losing weight or taking up exercise.
As a Wellbeing Supporter you will provide support, offer useful tips, be a buddy in times of weakness or even be an exercise companion. Whatever you can do to help others succeed will be appreciated by those trying to pursue a healthier way of life through changes to their lifestyle.
The Wellbeing supporter roles available are being a mentor or a buddy to someone, facilitating a group once the group has finished (e.g. a weight loss group, cookery group or activity group), being a Workplace champion (supporting people within their place of work to make healthier life choices) or just helping out at events and activity days as an event volunteer.
Does this sound like something you could do or something you might be interested in?
We are always looking for new volunteers to join the project – you may have been through the Wellbeing service yourself or you may just be interested generally in health and wellbeing and wish to help others.
We offer ‘taster’ days to get you familiar with what the project is about and what we expect from our volunteers, then a training day to get you started, followed by ongoing training, network meetings and general support from the Project Co-ordinator and also the Arun Wellbeing Team.
