West Sussex Emergency Heater scheme

I’m pleased to confirm that the West Sussex Emergency Heater scheme continues to run this winter, supplying an oil-filled radiator to vulnerable and low income households in West Sussex who have no working heating system and may be in fuel poverty.

Please find attached the latest referral form (here), which replaces all previous versions of the form. Where possible it must be signed by the client due to the nature of the equipment, or counter-signed by a professional with the client’s permission. No self-referrals can be accepted.
Please send all completed referral forms to me: catherine.geoghegan@arun.gov.uk.

In addition I’ve attached an updated general staff briefing to update you on practical and financial help currently available for affordable warmth in West Sussex (Financial & Practical help handout – October 2016).

Further information on the national and local help available can be found at www.westsussexenergy.co.uk – this website is maintained by myself on behalf of the West Sussex Fuel Poverty Partnership. Here you will find a wide range of advice including staying healthy in winter, how to get financial help to heat your home and how to find the best energy deal. You can also find information about local events taking place in West Sussex where someone will be available to advise on the help available to keep warm this winter.

For those who can’t access the internet, this information can also be found in this year’s West Sussex ‘Stay Well this Winter’ booklet.

Requests for free printed copies of this booklet, as well as room thermometer cards, Fuel Poverty Awareness training or questions regarding helping your clients with their home heating this winter – can be sent to me directly via the contact form on the website, or using my contact details below.

An electronic version of this booklet can be found in the Resources section of the West Sussex Affordable Energy website.

Please can you circulate this e-mail to your colleagues and networks as needed. If you wish to be added or removed from this distribution list please let me know.

Best Regards,
Cath
