Are you someone who wants to make a difference to young people’s lives by being there to listen when it can sometimes feel they have no one else to turn to?

As a YPS Crochet club volunteer, you’ll be there for young people to guide and support them through their hobby and interest in crochet.

What you’ll get: We provide training and support and all you need to carry out the role as well as covering travel expenses.

Above all, you’ll have the incredible satisfaction of knowing you’re helping people who need it. In addition, you’ll learn valuable new skills, make new friendships, and be part of an amazing group of people. 

Skills

While we think this role is suitable for a whole range of people, we are particularly looking for those with the following qualities and experience:

  • Passionate about helping young people
  • Great communication skills
  • Empathetic and perceptive
  • Open minded
  • Works well within a team
  • Emotional resilience
  • Counselling or psychology training
  • To be able to crochet

About Young People's Shop

We offer Support for Young people (11-25)

At times we have all suffered from anxiety and situations that can feel overwhelming. It’s difficult to know where to turn. That’s where we come in, you can talk to us about absolutely anything! There is no judgement here, just empathy and friendly faces.

YPS offers free confidentail advice (including sexual health), guidance, emotional support sessions and 1-1 counselling service just for young people. We are based in Chichester but our service is for anyone aged 11-25 who lives, works, or studies in the West of West Sussex can self-refer to our service.
