Volunteering

Secretary

For Chichester Area Talking News

Register your Interest

We're looking for a Secretary, as our current volunteer has been in the post for many years and now would like to use her computer a little less!

We're a friendly organisation, and the role isn't over-demanding: taking Minutes at the 4 annual Committee meetings, reminding Trustees when our Policies need updating, helping to organise our occasional social events and generally keeping an eye on the necessary administration.

Skills

You'll need to be computer-literate, comfortable with using Word, PDFs and Excel spreadsheets.

As we're a small charity, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in other aspects, but there's no requirement to do this unless you want to.

You'll need to be sensitive to the needs of blind and visually impaired people and able to think about the best way to communicate with them.

The current Secretary will be happy to explain more, and will be on hand for the first few months if you need any help or advice.

About Chichester Area Talking News

We are a small, all-volunteer charity which provides recorded news for blind and visually impaired people in West Sussex.
Every two weeks Chichester Area Talking News (CATN) records news taken from the three editions of the Chichester Observer and distributes the recordings to over 400 visually impaired listeners in the area surrounding Chichester. Recordings are also available on our web site at www.catn.org.uk and via the internet on a smart speaker such as the Amazon Echo Dot (or equivalent). We also produce a quarterly magazine recording and have social events for both listeners and volunteers.
