We’re looking for an organised, practical person to join the Branch Leadership Team at Bognor Regis, Chichester & District Samaritans as a Volunteer Branch Secretary to help keep our branch running smoothly so we can be there for people who need us most.

We’re a friendly branch of around 100 volunteers, supporting people across our local community.

This role is key to helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes—making sure meetings are well organised, records are kept up to date, and the branch meets its governance responsibilities.

What you will be doing:

  • Organising and supporting monthly Branch Leadership Team meetings
  • Preparing agendas and taking clear minutes
  • Keeping records and key documents up to date
  • Supporting the team to work within governance and organisational requirements
  • Helping ensure decisions are followed through

Skills

  • Organised and reliable
  • Willing to learn and get stuck in
  • Comfortable working as part of a team
  • Able to handle information sensitively
  • Experience in governance, admin, or a secretary-type role is helpful, but not essential.

About Samaritans Bognor Regis, Chichester & District Branch

The Samaritans services are available 24 hours a day to provide confidential, emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
Every 10 seconds we respond to a call for help. No judgement. No pressure. We’re here for anyone who needs someone.
We provide emotional support to those who are struggling to cope, some of whom have thoughts of ending their life, through phone, email or face to face.
We also work within the local community with schools, hospitals and with other charities to build resilience and support those at greatest risk.
We are entirely run by volunteers and our local branch is self sufficient in raising funds to meet our costs, recruiting and training our volunteers.
