Climate Initiatives

As a Charity, we know that our environment is being destroyed by the burning of fossil fuels and waste generation, which has increased the world temperature by 1.2ºC, increasing carbon dioxide by 50%.

VAAC's involvement in the climate change agenda

  • Supporting our members with advice on protecting the environment, using green technologies and finding sources for funding their climate change projects/assets.
  • Empowering our members to embrace new ways of working efficiently with Volunteers / staff time such as reducing paper waste and investing in digital resources
  • Working to build partnerships between statutory bodies and community leaders, in the public, commercial, community and voluntary sectors in order to adds social value and support community action on Climate initiatives.

Who is doing this - partners how we are involved role

Most public bodies are committed to the goal of being Carbon neutral by 2030. Some of our funders and partners for example;

https://www.chichester.gov.uk/climatechange, VAAC is supporting Arun and Chichester District Councils with their “Leading, bringing people and organisations together, coordinating and supporting others, joining others’ partnerships.” Community Engagement.

https://www.arun.gov.uk/climate-change amongst investment in buildings and assets, VAAC attended 3 of the climate action workshops, organised for Town and Parish Councils which was delivered by the Centre for Sustainable Energy in June 2024, this event provided information for the councils on the actions that they can take to help tackle climate change. (Net Zero events)
