Our Fundraising Lead provides an opportunity make real difference.

Whilst part of the national Samaritans organisation, the majority of branches, like ours, which covers Bognor Regis, Chichester and surrounding areas, are responsible for their own funding.

We need around £25,000 per annum to cover our running costs and we raise money through activities such as arranging events and collections, sponsorship, legacies and making charitable bids.

All of the team at our small and friendly branch are volunteers from the local community and we are looking for a new member to lead and shape our fundraising programme, working as part of our team that lead our branch.

The majority of the role can be carried out from home, at times to suit you, as long as you have access to phone and laptop, although, there will, if course, be the need for you to represent Samaritans in the community and with partners and to attend events and meetings, as required.

Skills

Whilst some experience of fundraising would be helpful, it more important to us that you are a creative, self-motivated person with great organisation abilities. You also need to feel confident in leading fundraising events, reaching out to others and communicating through a variety of media.

You also need to be IT literate, conversant with social media and possess xcellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

About Samaritans Bognor Regis, Chichester & District Branch

The Samaritans services are available 24 hours a day to provide confidential, emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. Every 10 seconds we respond to a call for help. No judgement. No pressure. We’re here for anyone who needs someone.
We provide emotional support to those who are struggling to cope, some of whom have thoughts of ending their life, through phone, email or face to face. We also work within the local community with schools, hospitals and with other charities to build resilience and support those at greatest risk. We are entirely run by volunteers and our local branch is self sufficient in raising funds to meet our costs, recruiting and training our volunteers. We are open every day and in 2020 responded to 17,500 calls for help.
