We require volunteers to carry out a range of practical tasks on the sites we manage. This could include: planting trees, hedges, wild-flowers and marginal plants, managing brambles, controlling invasive plants, pruning and general gardening activities.
Relevant training will be provided. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop a range of practical conservation skills and you will work with the happy bands of volunteers that manage our site.
Love of Nature & physically fit to carry out the role
Founded in 1997, originally as the Selsey Parish Map Group, we produced the first Parish Biodiversity Action Plan in the UK. Our activities now cover the entire Manhood Peninsula, all eleven parishes and some beyond.
Volunteers are at the very heart of our organisation; as our Trustees, producing newsletters, completing wildlife surveys, writing blogs and making the teas that keep us going! It is our aspiration that everyone who helps us feels a valued part of the team. MWHG has earned widespread respect and recognition for all that has been achieved, and has attracted a number of grants and notable awards including:
The National Green Apple Award For Conservation
Green Champion for Conservation 2006
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (MBE for volunteer groups)
South and South East in Bloom Gold Awards
Green Flag/Green Pennant Awards
Heritage Lottery Funding.
