Join the Tuppenny Barn Education team and assist with our regular school visits. Schools get the opportunity to view the organic smallholding we tend and learn about how we grow in harmony with nature. Children are taught about wildlife, growing sustainably and see first hand all the green measures we employ. We also have food school visits where the children get the opportunity to practise the 'fork to fork' principle by cropping fruit or vegetables and then taking them inside to cook.
The volunteer post ideally would suit someone who has an education background and has first hand experience of dealing with school children. The individual must be able to work outdoors and have an interest in the environment. It is desirable, but not essential to have a basic knowledge of growing fruit or vegetables.
To grown and sell food to local community using sustainable methods. Tupenny Barn also provides an education service that creates an inspirational environment in which our community can reconnect with the land, reinvigorate local food production and learn skills to promote sustainable living.
