For Southern Hospice Group

Register your Interest

At Chestnut Tree House we will be opening a brand-new Kitchen Garden to supply produce to our hospice kitchens.

There are large beds which will cultivate vegetables as well as an area for fruit bushes and trees.

An activities area with raised troughs for the children, young people and families to enjoy planting will be at the centre, with paths around the fruit and vegetable beds.

We are looking for someone with passion and knowledge to help us keep the area in tip top condition maintaining and developing the space.

  • A recognised qualification in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture is desirable
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of growing vegetables, herbs and fruit
  • Physically able to use tools, dig, prune, weed and plant
  • Able to work on your own or as part of our team
  • Willingness to carry out instructions from staff
  • Reliable and good time-keeping
  • Undertake training on Manual Handling and the use of specific gardening tools where appropriate
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to drive with own car to travel to the hospice site (not accessible by public transport)

About Southern Hospice Group

Southern Hospice Group was formed in 2024 when three local hospices merged - Martlets, St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House. Together, we support children, young people and adults who have life-limiting conditions which will significantly shorten their lives. We help those we care for, and their loved ones, to make the most of the precious time they have left together. Our expert palliative services support local communities across Sussex and South East Hampshire – at our hospice sites and in people’s homes.
