We have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer with appropriate skills to join the Chichester Ship Canal Trust's small team of trustees as Treasurer, providing oversight of the finances of both the charity and its trading subsidiary Chichester Canal Trading.
Key responsibilities are:
- management reporting and analysis of financial performance of the Trust and Trading subsidiary;
- working with budget holders to ensure expenditure is aligned with the Trust objectives;
- maintaining reserves at a level compliant with the Reserves Policy, to support sustainable funding of key projects;
- monitoring internal control processes to ensure expenditure is properly approved and funds are protected;
- liaising with external accountants for annual accounts.
Skills
- Ideally suited to an experienced qualified accountant.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely.
- 0Work effectively with a small team of employees who work with the Xero accounting system.
- Work effectively as part of a team of Trustees and Trading Directors to contribute to the delivery of the Trust's strategy and objectives.

The Chichester Ship Canal Trust offers daily scheduled boat trips from February till October as well as popular charter trips and activities to get you closer to the water and to nature. Relax in our popular waterside Cafe and discover our industrial heritage. We offer rowing boat hire, canoe and SUP licences, fishing and walking. From the city centre, 4 miles of towpath leads to the Harbour. Run by volunteers, accessible for all.

Written role description
Availability
The post-holder would be expected to attend Trust and Trading Company meetings, held quarterly at the Canal Trust Centre in Chichester.
Much of the role can be undertaken flexibly, working from home.
