Are you someone who wants to make a difference to young people’s lives by being there to listen when it can sometimes feel they have no one else to turn to?

As a YPS emotional support worker, you’ll be there for young people and listen to them as they open up about whatever is worrying them, whether it’s bullying, self harm, identity or family relationships – you’ll be there to support them.

We would like applicants to have Level 2 in Counselling Skills. If you don't have this, and would like to still do this role, we can sign you up through Chichester College. It is a free course and can be done at your own pace.

What you’ll get: We provide training and support and provide everything required to carry out the role as well as covering travel expenses. When you start your shifts, a supervisor will be around all times to support you and also give you regular one-to-one support and group supervisions.

Above all, you’ll have the incredible satisfaction of knowing you’re helping people who need it. In addition, you’ll learn valuable new skills, make new friendships, and be part of an amazing group of people.

Skills

While we think this role is suitable for a whole range of people, we are particularly looking for those with the following qualities and experience:

  • Passionate about helping young people
  • Great communication skills
  • Empathetic and perceptive
  • Open minded
  • Works well within a team
  • Emotional resilience Counselling or psychology training
