Are you someone who wants to make a difference to young people’s lives by being there to listen when it can sometimes feel they have no one else to turn to?
As a YPS emotional support worker, you’ll be there for young people and listen to them as they open up about whatever is worrying them, whether it’s bullying, self harm, identity or family relationships – you’ll be there to support them.
We would like applicants to have Level 2 in Counselling Skills. If you don't have this, and would like to still do this role, we can sign you up through Chichester College. It is a free course and can be done at your own pace.
What you’ll get: We provide training and support and provide everything required to carry out the role as well as covering travel expenses. When you start your shifts, a supervisor will be around all times to support you and also give you regular one-to-one support and group supervisions.

At times we have all suffered from anxiety and situations that can feel overwhelming. It’s difficult to know where to turn. That’s where we come in, you can talk to us about absolutely anything! There is no judgement here, just empathy and friendly faces.
YPS offers free confidentail advice (including sexual health), guidance, emotional support sessions and 1-1 counselling service just for young people. We are based in Chichester but our service is for anyone aged 11-25 who lives, works, or studies in the West of West Sussex can self-refer to our service.

We are open Monday-Tuesday 2pm-7.30pm, Wednesday-Friday 2pm-6pm and are looking for volunteers who can cover one or more of our weekday afternoon sessions on an ad-hoc basis.
