We are looking for new Mentor Coordinators in Chichester and Bognor.

The Mentor Coordinator is an important role supporting the reading journey of adults who struggle with reading. You work with our team to enroll new readers, match the readers with one of our coaches and visit and support our 1:1 reading pairs.

This is a exciting opportunity to witness the way that learning to read can have a positive impact on the lives of adults as they learn to read.

Skills

Coordinators need :

  • Good literacy skills,
  • Good communication and people skills,
  • Awareness of the need for confidentiality and importance of safeguarding issues,
  • Good organisational and record keeping skills;
  • Confidence in using IT,
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as team member,

About Read Easy Chichester & Arun Group

Read Easy is a charity which provides free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaches for adults who would like to improve their reading skills at their own pace and without pressure. Reading sessions are taught by fully trained volunteer reading coaches to work with readers in their own community. Read Easy Chichester & Arun is our local friendly group, based in Chichester, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton.

The Mentor Coordinator will be expected to be flexible as the time required by the role will vary on a weekly basis. A minimum of 3 hours per week will be expected involving visits to reading partnerships, in addition to administrative activities, and attendance at coach meetings (usually at 8 week intervals).
