Group Chair Person
For 1st Pulborough and Bury Scout Group

Formally, the Chair will lead our Scout Group Exec, ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities within the Group, District and County/Area/Region. The Chair will work closely with the Group Scout Leader/ relevant Commissioner to achieve the purpose of The Scout Association through the development of local Scouting, in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.
We would love someone to help us that would like to make a difference for the lives of young people in our area.
The responsibilities of the Chair:
- Objectively and impartially chairing and facilitating Scout Group Exec meetings.
- Acting as the Chair of the relevant Scout Group Exec.
- Planning the annual cycle of Scout Group Exec meetings and setting the agenda for Scout Group Exec meetings with support from the Group Secretary.
- Monitoring that decisions and actions agreed at Scout Group Exec meetings are implemented.
- Working closely with the GSL / relevant Commissioner to ensure there are long term and short term goals and the role the Scout Group Exec can play in helping to achieve these.
- Providing direction for the Scout Group Exec.
- Ensuring that all Trustees have been briefed and inducted into their roles, receive appropriate training, and are aware of their status as charity trustees.
- Addressing and resolving conflicts that arise.
- Membership and attendance of any working groups or sub-Committees set up by the Scout Group Exec, where appropriate.

About 1st Pulborough and Bury Scout Group
We are the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts of Pulborough and Bury. Bury is a downland village sitting in Chichester District, under the South Downs on the A29. We support young people aged 6 - 14 across the area to have fun, to learn about the world, themselves and their capabilities.

Availability
You can choose how much or how little you put into this role, with a low commitment level of one ninety-minute meeting every 6-8 weeks, and an annual AGM.
If you would like to be more involved, that's great too, and we can even invest you and give you your own red 1st Pulborough and Bury Scout Group scarf/necker.
