We are looking for volunteers to join the VAAC team at community events to help communicate what we do, promote volunteering opportunities, and engage with members of the public.
You will support us at a range of events across the Arun and Chichester districts. We do not expect volunteers to attend every event, and we generally know event dates around two months in advance.
This is a great opportunity to meet new people, visit a variety of local venues, learn more about the voluntary and community sector, and participate in training opportunities provided by VAAC. Most importantly, it is a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
We welcome people from all walks of life, age groups, and backgrounds. We are particularly keen to hear from people who currently volunteer, or have volunteered in the past, with one of our member organisations. Your personal experience can help inspire others and make you a fantastic ambassador for volunteering.
You will be supported by VAAC’s Volunteering Officers, as well as other members of our team.
The VAAC building is accessible to wheelchair users, and when organising our own events, we aim to use accessible venues. However, some community events hosted by external organisations may have accessibility limitations. We will always aim to provide full information about access arrangements before you commit to supporting a particular event.
We are looking for people who:
| Mon | Tue | Wed | Thu | Fri | Sat | Sun | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Morning | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Afternoon | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Evening | No | No | No | No | No | No | No |
This is a flexible volunteering role. We will keep you informed about the events we are attending or organising and invite you to take part well in advance. While there is no minimum commitment, we would appreciate it if volunteers could attend at least four events per year. Events typically last around 3 to 4 hours and are usually held on weekdays, from late morning to early afternoon. Some events may take place on Saturdays, and more occasionally on Sundays. We understand that volunteers have other commitments and there is no expectation that you attend every event. You are free to choose the opportunities that fit your availability.
