Are you looking for a fun and rewarding way to support local families during the school holidays?

At Graylingwell Chapel, we offer free activities for children to enjoy, such as colouring, drawing, crafts, films, and circus play. These relaxed sessions provide a welcoming space for families to spend time together.

We're looking for friendly volunteers to help us host these sessions.

Your role would involve:

  • Setting up the activity area
  • Welcoming children and their families
  • Supporting children with their activities if needed

Parents stay on site throughout, so this isn’t a childcare role — it’s all about creating a warm and inviting environment where kids can have fun.

Sessions typically run from 12–2pm on weekdays during the school holidays. We already have some fantastic volunteers but would love to add a few more to share the tasks.

If you enjoy working with children, love getting creative, or simply want to give back to the community, we'd be delighted to hear from you!

Skills

  • Friendly and Approachable – Able to create a warm, welcoming environment for children and their families.
  • Good Communication Skills – Comfortable engaging with children, parents, and fellow volunteers.
  • Patience and Encouragement – Willing to support children as they explore activities at their own pace.
  • Creativity and Enthusiasm – Enjoys arts, crafts, or imaginative play.
  • Reliability and Commitment – Able to confidently manage a session and follow the schedule.
  • Teamwork Skills – Happy to collaborate with other volunteers to set up, run, and tidy away activities.
  • Basic Organisation Skills – Able to prepare materials, manage resources, and keep the space tidy.

Desirable but Not Essential:

  • Experience working with children (e.g., parenting, teaching, or youth work).
