We are currently entirely staffed by volunteers, and we are looking to build up a "bank" of volunteers who could potentially cover when one of our regular volunteers is unavailable. This might be helping members choosing resources when we are open, helping out with workshops for adults or children, making up craft kits, or helping to sort donations when we are not open to members.

We have a WhatsApp group for all volunteers where available shifts are posted and you can respond to take on a session if it's convenient for you - there is no pressure!

Skills

You will probably be someone who enjoys crafting - it will help you to identify the donations that come in, and there's a lot of talk about different crafts with both members and other volunteers.

If you are in the Scrapstore during opening hours you may need to take payments via cash and card, but the system is pretty simple.

If you volunteer at an activity session or workshop, you might need to move chairs and tables around, make tea and coffee, and provide basic help to participants.

About Resourceful Community Scrapstore

We take reusable, safe, clean waste materials and unwanted resources that would have gone to landfill and redistribute them to the wider community including schools, nurseries and individual crafters.

We opened at the beginning of June 2024 and have already built a solid community of members who both contribute and take from the Scrapstore, which is an Aladdin's Cave of creative resources which is ever changing.
