Trustee and Secretary

For Sage Counselling CIO

Sage Counselling supports people with mobility issues who need counselling in Sussex.

After 25 years as a charity the trustees have decided to incorporate the charity as a CIO.

We are seeking a new trustee with experience as a Secretary to help the board meet relevant compliance requirements.

Skills

A trustee with experience as a Secretary, whether with other charities or in business, will help ensure the smooth running of our meetings.

It is essential that the decision making process of the trustees is robust, ensuring good governance.

Timely communications with the public (via the Charity Commission) and our members are vital to demonstrate accountability and transparency.

The role will suit someone who is methodical and organised with good communications skills.

They should have integrity, objectivity and be proactive so that they can provide independent judgement.

Previous experience of maintaining accurate, secure, and accessible records, including minutes, agendas, and correspondence would be invaluable in this role.

Competence in using Google Workspace to manage documents, emails, and online meeting tools would be good but not essential.

About Sage Counselling CIO

Sage Counselling provides a counselling service for adults with limited mobility. Limited mobility can be due to age, stroke or disablement and mental health issues such as agoraphobia or severe depression which makes accessing other counselling services difficult or impossible. We also see carers who would need to find alternative care while attending counselling away from home.
A counsellor will visit clients within their own home, hospital, care home or hospice. Sessions can be in person or remotely via telephone or online platform i.e. Zoom.

The trustees meet quarterly via zoom and use Google Workspace for sharing documents and Gmail for communications. Ad hoc meetings are via Zoom. An AGM is the only time that the trustees physically meet.
