We are looking for drivers who are willing to use their own car to provide transport for our elderly or vulnerable clients. This may be to a medical appointment, to a social event/visit or for a shopping trip. Drivers will be covered by the charity's insurance for public liability, however drivers should have their own fully comprehensive cover. Drivers are currently paid at the rate of 45p a mile (as set by HMRC, not taxable). There is a minimum payment of £5 per trip.
Drivers should be patient and understand that our client group are elderly and vulnerable and some need more time to get in and out of the car and into appointments. Some assistance may be needed by the client to get them to departments at hospital appointments, and this can involve pushing a wheelchair. DBS check will be carried out by the charity before commencement of driving.
Community Transport is an organization run by volunteers offering to drive people who find it difficult to access public transport or where public transport is not available, for appointments such as Doctors, Hospitals and Dentists.
