This is an ideal opportunity for someone who would like to do some volunteer driving but who doesn't have their own vehicle, or who would prefer not to use their own vehicle. Although the primary use for the WAV will be transporting clients needing to travel in wheelchairs it will be used for other clients when there is availability. Most of the trips are short journeys to doctors and hospitals and day centres.
Full training on use of the vehicle is given before you can drive it. The Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle drives like a car and the wheelchair securing system is striate forward.
An ability to communicate with people with patience and understanding and a willingness to offer a friendly ear. Some clients may need an arm to hold if they are not those travelling in a wheelchair.
Community Transport is an organization run by volunteers offering to drive people who find it difficult to access public transport or where public transport is not available, for appointments such as Doctors, Hospitals and Dentists. As well as trips providing social inclusion such as Clubs, Shopping and Visiting.

We do not have a minimum expectation for availability. We are hoping that one or more volunteers will be able to cover the WAV at least on weekdays. It is helpful if a volunteer is able to offer regular availability rather than ad-hoc.
