As our incoming Chair of Trustees, you will play a vital role in the governance and strategic direction of Arun Community Transport. With the rise of public support and awareness of our services, combined with the charity’s strong growth and financial stability, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate. 

The Chairperson ensures that the Board of Trustees functions properly by ensuring each Trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity that there is full participation at meetings, all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out.

About Arun Community Transport

Community Transport offers to drive people who find it difficult to access public transport or where public transport is not available, for appointments such as Doctors, Hospitals and Dentists. As well as trips providing social inclusion such as Clubs, Shopping and Visiting.

We operate within the Arun district, predominately Littlehampton, Rustington and East Preston and relay on volunteers and funding from local government, charitable grants and the support of our users with a small membership fee (currently £10.00 per year).

The role of Chair requires an estimate commitment of 8hrs/month. Four Board meetings per year, held in Dove Lodge plus an annual meeting. These meetings require attendance in person and attendance at selected steering group meetings. The chair is also expected to have regular meetings with the Senior Management Team and represent the Charity at various events and meetings with key stakeholders.
