We are currently actively recruiting more volunteers to help clearing the Fort of the vegetation and uncovering what remains.
This is a great project for people to get involved in, providing important work to help save the Fort for our future generations. We are entering a lovely part of the year where we can make the most of the lighter evenings and warm weekends.
If you like outside work, gardening or just doing something amazing to save this very important part of our history, please get in contact
The Littlehampton Fort Restoration Project is a dedicated effort to restore and revitalize the historic Littlehampton Fort, a once-proud coastal defense structure overlooking the mouth of the River Arun in West Sussex, England.
Founded in 2011 by local resident Andy Orpin, the project is driven by a passionate team of volunteers who share a vision for the fort’s future.
The primary goal is to arrest the fort’s deterioration and restore its structural integrity. This includes addressing issues like crumbling walls, overgrown vegetation, and potential water damage.
The project also aims to preserve the fort’s historical significance. This involves research into the fort’s construction, military role, and place in local history. Educational resources and interpretive materials will be developed to share the fort’s story with the public.
The Littlehampton Fort Restoration Project represents a community’s commitment to preserving its past. By restoring the fort and transforming it into a vibrant space we aim to ensure that this coastal sentinel continues to stand as a testament to local history for generations to come.
