This is an exciting opportunity to become involved with the RSPCA Sussex West Branch, establised in 1964 as a registered charity. The charity operates as an automonmous, self- funded Branch of the National RSPCA, working locally to achieve our purpose of promoting kindness and preventing cruelty to animals. We are the only local rescue charity that operates at the most abused, neglected, mistreated end of animal welfare The charity is based in Eartham, West Sussex where it owns and operates Mount Noddy Animal Centre. The main activity is rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming local cats and dogs in need of care and a new forever home. We work with the local RSPCA inspectorate taking in cats and dogs who have been ill-treated, many requiring veterinary treatment, or animals who, for no fault of their own, are homeless or can’t stay with their present owners for a variety of reasons. The charity also operates 4 charity shops and has a small portfolio of investment properties that generate rental income towards the costs of running the Animal Centre.
The trustees meet monthly, in the evenings, 18.00-20.00hrs at Mount Noddy Animal Centre. Trustees are expected to make a practical hands on contribution by leading on events and to commit sufficient time to read papers prior to meetings, participate in email/phone communication between meetings, and ad hoc attend other events, so that they have a good understanding of the charity’s work overall.
This is a volunteer, unremunerated role with responsiblity under Charity Law as a trustee and RSPCA Branch Rules. Further information on the role of a trustee can be found on the Charity Commission website where you can download leaflet CC3 the Essential Trustee – What you Need to Know.

We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled and committed new trustees to join our existing Board, to continue to provide the governance and strategic direction of the Branch.

We would like to hear from people of all ages (over 18), from all social and cultural backgrounds, who have sound business, management and strategic skills, the ability to work collaboratively and bring different experiences and new ideas to the Board, especially in income generation and fundraising events, social media and charged for services that complement the charity’s objectives.
We are also looking for a new Trustee who can take on the office of Chair of the Fundraising Sub Committee. Frequency of the Sub Committee varies pending the level of activity planned.
Mount Noddy Animal Centre supports the work of the RSPCA in the Chichester district and surrounding area. Nestled in the beautiful South Downs, the centre provides care and assistance to hundreds of dogs and cats each year who need a second chance to find their forever home. As a local branch of the RSPCA, we operate within the guidelines and rules of the national RSPCA but we are a separate registered charity. We are completely self funded which means we rely on fundraising, donations and our five charity shops that help support the work we do.
