Volunteer Driver

For Community Transport Sussex

We are currently seeking volunteer Drivers across the Chichester and Arun District to take elderly, vulnerable, disabled and those who suffer from social exclusion and cannot access public transport to local shops, doctors' surgeries and Day Centres such as Age UK.

We also supply transport to local community groups and assist with school runs to special needs schools.

We welcome applications from any member of the community, including BAME community members, and female drivers.

You will be required to take a DBS Check (which we will pay for) and complete a small amount of driver training.

Vehicles will be checked for road worthiness and compliance with DVLA guidelines

Some journey requests are outside the area.

Skills

Patient and understanding towards the people you are transporting
Desire to play a pivotal role in helping member of your community stay connected.
Over 21 years old and have at least two years driving experience with a full clean driving licence.

About Community Transport Sussex

Our charities help local people who struggle to access public transport due to age, disability or because there is a lack of safe or adequate public services in their area.

CT Sussex was formed on 1st of October 2016, when Crawley Community Transport, Bluebird Community Partnership and Horsham District Community Transport all merged. In April 2021, we welcomed Dial-a-Ride Southern Services to the group.

As a group of charities we cover the Horsham District, Crawley, a large stretch of the Sussex coast and the Mid Sussex District, which includes Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, East Grinstead and the surrounding villages. We work closely with our friends in other local community transport organisations and are always looking to help them as well.

Flexible to suit any days you can offer. If you are happy to do evenings and weekend, that's a bonus. However, this is a position where you tell us what hours you can do, and within those hours we will ask if you are able to help before confirming each booking.
