We are looking for a reliable, skilled Handyperson to support our facilities team based at the hospice in Bosham, one day a week.

This volunteer role is perfect for someone who enjoys a variety of practical tasks and takes pride in keeping spaces safe, functional, and looking their best.

Your tasks may include:

• Minor repairs (for example: fixing doors, patching walls, replacing fixtures)
• Basic plumbing or electrical work
• Furniture assembly and setup
• General maintenance and upkeep

Interested applicants will be invited to meet our Facilities Manager for an informal chat and look around the hospice.

Skills

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience in general maintenance or a similar role
• A proactive attitude, ability to work as part of a team but also once a task is allocated to work independently
• Good communication
• Reliable, trustworthy, and safety-conscious
• Good level of fitness in order to carry out this role
• Enthusiastic about DIY
• Can carry out basic DIY tasks
• Adaptable, as maintenance needs are likely to change regularly
• Good interpersonal skills / team player
• Positive attitude
• Work to be completed safely and to a good standard
• Able to travel to our 12 shop locations (Emsworth, Chidham, Midhurst, Chichester, Bognor Regis, Felpham, East Wittering, Selsey, Barnham) – out of pocket expenses can be claimed in agreement with Retail Director

About St Wilfrid's Hospice

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is much more than a building. We provide tailored end of life care both in the community and at our Hospice, supporting our patients living with a terminal illness, and their family and friends.

All our vital services are provided free of charge, thanks to the generous support of fundraisers and donors.

St Wilfrid’s employs around 250 people across its clinical, retail, fundraising, and other support service teams. More than 560 people give their time to St Wilfrid’s as volunteers, including on the in-patient unit, in shops, at events, in the café, in the community, and as trustees and committee advisers.

Availability

We are looking for someone to volunteer one day a week (not weekends) to support our Maintenance team.
