Join our friendly volunteer team and help maintain the beautiful gardens at Fishbourne Roman Palace, an essential part of our historic site.
Whether you’re an experienced horticulturist or just starting out with your own garden, if you love being outdoors, getting your hands dirty, and learning new gardening skills, we’d love to have you.
As a volunteer, you’ll assist with a range of tasks from planting and pruning to helping with special garden projects.
If it was a yes to the above, then why not get in touch and give volunteering as a Gardener a try.
The palace is one of properties managed by the Sussex Archaeological Society, the UK’s oldest group of its kind, established in 1846, which is dedicated to preserving Sussex heritage.
As a registered charity, we open historic houses and gardens to the public, curate six accredited museums, and promote research through our extensive libraries, archives, and research grants.
With no government funding, we rely on income from admissions, donations, grants, and memberships to care for 10 Listed buildings, six Scheduled Monuments, and a Registered park and garden. Your support as a Volunteer can help preserve our local heritage.
