Located in a prime position in central Chichester, our Flagship shop in East Street is looking for more volunteers to join their team, especially at the weekends.   We are looking to recruit a diverse team of volunteers from all backgrounds with a wide variety of skills who can help us grow in this fantastic new location. Here are the roles available:

  • Sales assistants – these volunteers will talk to our customers, supporters and donors, get to know our local supporters and build relationships quickly and help us get that all important sale by offering a friendly service.
  • Donation Sorters – do you have a good eye for a treasure, quirky or unique items, but also have a good idea of trends, brands and prices?  You will look up items to make sure that we are offering a good quality item at a fair price. You will also identify if a treasure is best sold on line to maximise income.
  • Visual, Craft & Artistic support- for displays, windows, upcycling, mending
  • Housekeeping –we are looking for people who love to clean and have a real pride for the work that they do.  They will be meticulous with detail, ensuring that we are offering our customers a safe and clean environment in which to shop.

 

Full training and support is offered and a variety of days and shift times are available.

For sorting and sales roles hours will ideally be 9am -1.30pm  or 1.30pm -5pm.

Social distancing procedures will be put in place for staff and volunteers.

Skills

Please be aware the shop is in an historic building with 3 flights of stairs and no lift available.

We are looking for individuals to:-

  • Have a welcoming smile, cheerful disposition with good interpersonal skills
  • Be reliable and dependable
  • Have a good level of fitness in order to volunteer in the shop for 3-4 hours,
  • Be confident to deal with a wide range of people, from customers to staff and other volunteers
  • Be flexible as you may be asked to help out with new tasks occasionally 
  • Volunteer as part of a team 
  • You may be required to volunteer unsupervised on occasions
  • Minimum age 16 years (exception DOE)
  • Comply with all applicable policies and procedures of the Hospice

We are specifically looking for volunteer support in the following areas: Weekends Saturdays and Sundays - meet and greet customers on the first floor and till work Weekdays - meet and greet customers on the first floor

Stockroom handler to help sort, price and replenish the shop

Some previous retail experience and/or customer service would be desirable, but not essential.

 

About St Wilfrid's Hospice

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is much more than a building. We provide tailored end of life care both in the community and at our Hospice, supporting our patients living with a terminal illness, and their family and friends.

All our vital services are provided free of charge, thanks to the generous support of fundraisers and donors.
