As we enter an exciting new phase of growth, we are looking to strengthen our Board with people who share our vision and can help shape the future of the organisation.  We offer opportunity to support projects in line with your expertise.

We are looking for enthusiastic Head of Board, Marketing, Fundraising and Operations Directors.  All Director positions are voluntary.

Marketing Director

Will shape our marketing and communications, grow our audience, attract new volunteers and supporters, and help tell the stories that demonstrate the impact of our work. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and champion the Society's marketing and communications strategy.
  • Increase awareness of the Chichester Bike Project across the local community and wider region.
  • Support audience growth by identifying opportunities to attract new participants, volunteers, supporters and donors.
  • Strengthen the organisation's brand and ensure consistent messaging across all communications.
  • Advise on digital marketing, social media, PR and promotional campaigns.
  • Support fundraising, sponsorship and partnership activity through effective marketing and storytelling.
  • Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Society.
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation.

We are looking for someone with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Marketing strategy
  • Brand development
  • Digital marketing and social media
  • Communications and public relations
  • Audience development
  • Campaign management
  • Graphic design or content creation (desirable)
  • Community engagement
  • Charity or social enterprise marketing

Chair of the Board 

Will guide an ambitious Community Benefit Society delivering environmental and social impact through cycling. You will work alongside an enthusiastic Board and operational team to help shape strategy, build partnerships and ensure excellent governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chair Board meetings.
  • Ensure good governance and compliance.
  • Support the development of strategy.
  • Build an effective and engaged Board.
  • Act as principal ambassador for the Society.
  • Develop relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Support succession planning and Board development.

Ideally you will have:

  • Leadership experience
  • Board or governance experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strategic thinking
  • An understanding of the voluntary or community sector (desirable)

Fundraising Director

Will lead the Board's approach to fundraising, helping secure the resources needed to deliver the Society's ambitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop fundraising strategy.
  • Identify grant opportunities.
  • Support trust and foundation applications.
  • Develop corporate sponsorship opportunities.
  • Encourage individual giving and donations.
  • Build relationships with potential funders.
  • Monitor fundraising performance.

Experience in:

  • Fundraising and Grant applications
  • Corporate sponsorship
  • Charity income generation
  • Trusts and foundations
  • Relationship management

Operations Director

Will support operational planning, delivery and continuous improvement across the Society's activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of operations.
  • Support development of operational systems and policies.
  • Monitor organisational performance.
  • Support risk management.
  • Advise on health and safety, logistics and operational planning.
  • Help ensure projects are delivered effectively and sustainably.

The Chichester Bike Project is a Community Benefit Society that believes everyone should have access to affordable, sustainable transport. Through refurbishing donated bicycles, delivering community programmes and promoting active travel, the project creates environmental, social and economic benefits across the Chichester district.
