We are looking to recruit a number of cooks/chefs to provide breakfast, lunch and/or evening meals for our clients during the winter months. Shifts can be booked dependant on your availability.
This is an invaluable role which directly impacts our clients in a positive way. At any one time you could be providing a hot meal for up to 15 people.
Shifts available (Mon, Weds, Fri) Breakfast: 6.30am - 8.30am, Lunch:11am - 1pm, Evening: 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Once your application has been processed, and you have read through our volunteer handbook, policies and procedures; we will buddy you up with a volunteer (On a Shadow Shift) who is already in post to show you the ropes.
One of the challenges cooking in the Hubs or Hostels is that you will never know what food items are available. This is due to the nature of being a charity and what food has been donated that week. Within each Hostel there is a calendar which you can sign up to each week and know who is on shift the day before and after so you can get items out in preparation for them if they have made contact with you to do so
You will be working alongside staff members, they will give you all the support you need on shift and will deal with any client based issues that may arise. You will not be expected to deal with these situations. You will be working within close proximity to our clients, some may offer to help cook. We encourage you to cook alongside our clients and designating them a task while cooking will also enhance their experience and boost their confidence.

Founded in 1989, we are a charity that provides a lifeline for homeless people in Chichester, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton. We work with over 130 people every single day, empowering them to rebuild their lives and find independent accommodation they can call home.
We provide a range of services including day centres, hostels, a recovery service, and supported housing. We also have two charity shops which give people the opportunity to learn new skills and access education, training and employment. We are here for people who are sleeping rough or homeless and want to turn their lives around. The support we offer is tailored to the individual’s needs.
